Appliance Shopping Adventure

One of the fun (yet overwhelming) things about buying a new home is shopping for appliances! We included all of our previous appliances with the sale of our condo. The house we bought only included a stove and a dishwasher since it was new construction. Our new stove and dishwasher are both General Electric and I love them. Our new stove is gas and the oven has a self cleaning mode. I'm stoked about it since our last oven didn't have the self cleaning feature. Our new dishwasher's control panel isn't visible until you open it, so I think that will take some time for me to get used to.

We shopped all over the place for the best deals on a fridge, microwave, washer, and dryer. Thankfully it was Labor Day weekend so there were tons of sales going on.

Old Fridge LG - Best Buy
24.7 cubic feet

New Fridge  - LG #LMXS30776S - Home Depot
29.7 cubic feet

I'm so in love with our new fridge! We still wanted a french door unit, we wanted a "door-in-door" feature, and we wanted stainless steel. At first I was really interested in one of the new touchscreen Samsung fridges, but after seeing it in person we realized that we didn't like the interior space. One of the things I really like about LG fridges is that the ice machine is built into the door instead of wasting valuable space within the main space of the fridge. I also liked this fridge because the water filter is built into the door. The CustomChill drawer was also a selling point. Our last fridge was LG and we never had any problems with it, so I guess you can say we're loyal to the brand.

We had no idea how massive this fridge was until we had it installed. Its depth is so long that it's not flush with the counter, haha. Home Depot was the only place that had the fridge in stock so we went through them. We had a TERRIBLE experience (it's a long story, feel free to ask me about it if you're curious), but they rectified the situation satisfactorily. I am confident that they'll take our feedback and try to make sure that no one else goes through what we did. We pretty much got the fridge at an amazing price because of all of the issues we had!

Old Microwave Kenmore (above the range) - included with condo
1.7 cubic feet

Sorry! I can't find a picture of our old microwave

New Microwave LG (countertop) - #LCRT2010ST - Best Buy
2.0 cubic feet

We love the look of this microwave since it matches all of our kitchen appliances. I also really liked it because it's one of the largest microwaves we found. We found this at Best Buy at the best price (haha, see what I did there?) and I was also able to redeem some Best Buy Rewards that I accumulated. Plus, I ordered this on sale online and got some money back via eBates.

Old Washer & Dryer Samsung - Best Buy
Washer: 3.7 cubic feet | Dryer: 7.3 cubic feet

New Washer & Dryer Samsung -  #WF45K6500AV - #DV45K6500GV - Lowe's
Washer: 4.5 cubic feet | Dryer 7.5 cubic feet

This set was actually not our first choice - our first choice had less features and was less expensive. The last set in Anchorage was literally sold right under our noses at Best Buy! We found this set at Lowe's and we loved all the features. I thought the color was beautiful too, I didn't want to settle for a white set again. I didn't really care for the AddWash feature (the door where you can add forgotten items), but it really does come in handy! Some of the features that weren't on our last washer include Allergen, Towel, and Activewear. It also has a self cleaning option. Our pedestals just got installed last night! I'm so excited that we don't have to stack our washer and dryer anymore since we have a dedicated laundry room. We ordered these on sale online from Lowe's. We also got a pretty sweet amount back ($108!) via eBates!
