5th Wedding Anniversary Plans

Sean and I decided that we will spend our 5th wedding anniversary in the city we got married in - Las Vegas!

I mentioned a few times to Sean that I was having some major Vegas withdrawals. We originally planned to celebrate our anniversary as a little getaway in Alyeska (my favorite place to go for a nearcation). We've gone there several times before around our anniversary... The upside is that it isn't crowded and the rates are less expensive. The downside is that many of the restaurants we want to eat at are closed (Seven Glaciers, Sakura, Double Musky).

We went for an evening stroll and Sean starts with, "Sooo...." Every time he starts a conversation with that, I know it's about something he's been thinking of for a while. "What do you think about going to Vegas for our anniversary? I was thinking we could go to Alyeska around Valentine's instead and all the restaurants will be open around then." Ahhh, my heart was full of excitement and joy!

It'll be a quick trip, just 4 nights. We have a lot of loyalty points we can redeem through myVEGAS (I'll write about myVEGAS in depth later). I wanted to redeem some free hotel stays, but unfortunately all the dates that we'll be there for are black out dates. I'm assuming that it's because it's around Halloween. I've been browsing through all the myVEGAS rewards and we'll probably use them towards dining experiences, attractions, or shows.

We didn't want to spend a lot of money on this trip since we have a lot going on and it's planned last minute (YES, last minute to us since we normally plan our vacations a year+ out! Lol). We decided not to stay at one of the big resorts on the strip this time. I decided to book at Cancun resort. I stayed there back in 2007 and remember it being spacious.

I'm pretty stoked about this Vegas trip. The last time we were there was May 2015, and even though it was just last year it feels like it was a long time ago. Sean and I aren't your typical Vegas goers... What I mean by that is we don't go there to party or gamble (Okay, maybe we gamble a little... LOL). We love sightseeing, dining, and shopping at places we don't have here in Alaska. I've got quite the "To Do Wish List" for this trip, lets see how many we actually cross off while we're there! :)
