May 2016 Travel Plans

Disneyland, here we come!

I am so stoked that I was able to score a 1 bedroom villa for 4 nights in May at Disney's Grand Californian! They only have 48 DVC rooms at the Grand Californian, so it is usually very difficult to book a stay there. We were prepared to use our DVC points towards the Disney Collection (which require more points per night for a standard room) or even pay out of pocket to stay at a "Good Neighbor" hotel. I decided to look for a studio villa just for the fun of it. There were none available like I anticipated, but they did have 1 bedroom villas. We used a little less points for a 1 bedroom villa vs. booking a Disney Collection room. Score! I checked again shortly after booking, and 1 bedroom villas were all booked up! I felt pretty damn lucky.

We usually just book studios to maximize our DVC points, but after our May trip we didn't foresee ourselves going on more trips for a while since we're hoping to start a family next year. :) I'm really excited about booking a 1 bedroom so Sean and I can have more privacy, we will have a full kitchen, and best of all... We'll have a washer and dryer unit in our suite!

We plan on going to Disneyland, *MAYBE* Universal Studios (I really want to see the Harry Potter section when it opens there!), and then spend one night at my aunt's house.  After our time in Anaheim and Temecula, we'll be sailing on the Disney Wonder for 5 nights! We will depart from San Diego, enjoy a day at sea, port in San Francisco, enjoy two more days at sea, and then arrive in Vancouver, Canada. We booked this cruise while we were on the Disney Dream, so we got 10% off the rate and only had to pay a $200 deposit.

When we get to Vancouver, we plan to stay there for 2 nights and then head back home to Anchorage, AK.
